Mitchell founded Capstone in 1998 where he has acquired over 5.0 million SF of value-add and opportunistic commercial real estate with over $600 million in capitalization. Since 2001, he has been an Adjunct Professor with Columbia University’s MSRED Master Program teaching Private Equity Syndication. In the late 1990’s, he was an Investment Banker with a boutique Wall Street firm where he arranged over $2.0 billion for hotels and office projects. In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, he was an MAI Chief Appraiser and Hotel Valuation expert with Ernst & Young and Laventhol & Horwath where he advised pension funds, insurance companies and banks. He is a member of trade groups including: MAI, the Appraisal Institute; CRE, Real Estate Counselors, ULI, PREA, NCREIF and attended NYU Shack Institute M.S., Real Estate Development and Syracuse University, School of Management, Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises.
